Man Sentenced to the Stocks for Kissing Wife
perezhamilton:
Oooooh, scandalous!!!!!
A Boston man, Captain Kemble, returned home after three years at sea and kissed his wife in public on the Sabbath. This is a BIG no-no, so he was sentenced to sit in the stocks for two hours for his “lewd and unseemly behavior”.
God is ALWAYS watching… and so are your narc neighbors.
LOL.

Things in the Zeitgeist office are off to a weird start this year, mail-wise. We’ve received a magazine to which no member of this office subscribes, which in itself wouldn’t be so strange of an occurrence - subscription slip-ups happen all the time (thank you thank you thank you to whoever it…

The internet is still blowing up about the Kanye West tweet-athon from the other night (most succinctly contained here), and for good reason. As someone who was awake to witness as it unfolded live… I mean… it was mesmerizing. I didn’t know if it would ever end, and more importantly,…
Portrait Hall of Fame
perezhamilton:
Um, wut. ????
This is a self-portrait of the Dutch artist David Bailly. Supposedly this is classic example of “vinitas” art, which uses weird objects likes skulls to represent the meaninglessness of life and vanity.
Wow Dave, this was a REALLY uplifting picture of you.
Excuse us while we go cut ourselves and contemplate our mortality.

Particularly proud of this one. Also buy yourself some DVDs!

If you are anything like me (Rachel), you woke up today and spent the entirety of your 50 minute D train ride being really disappointed in yourself for STILL not being over that stupid Adele song while mulling over the fact that you haven’t purchased a single Christmas present, and then you felt…

A Stella Artois commercial that Andy and I shot and edited. Shot completely on the Phantom at 500 (and sometimes 1000) frames per second, it shows the beautiful movement of liquid is super slow-motion. Even if you hate beer, take a look. Music: “Nightcall” by Kavinsky
And The Anne Hutchinson Trial Verdict is...
perezhamilton:
Guilty!! Shocker.
After realizing what a crazy nutbag Anne Hutchinson is, the Bay Colony of Massachusetts threw her out on the streets. She’s officially banished and is now heading to Providence, Rhode Island to join the other crazy nutbag, R-Wills, who believes in “freedom of religion”.
Now they can be crazy together!
Perfect!

Rachel’s direction helped, as did my previous role as “tree” in a 7th grade production of Once on This Island.

With Halloween less than a week away, you’re probably reading this from the line at one of Manhattan’s 22 Ricky’s locations. I was there last year. It took 35 minutes to purchase a feather boa… which I never ended up using.

Zeitgeist Films: Meet the Bloggers! →

We here at zeitgeistfilms.tumblr.com feel that we abuse the “we” that so often adorns this blog. Who are “we”?
Are we the physical manifestation of Zeitgeist Films, the Spirit of the times itself, invisible on the wind but ever-present in your mind?
Yeah, no.
Are we Nancy Gerstman and…

Hiding Things, part I
tomyassistant:
When I absent-mindedly use my scissors on multiple occasions to cut my tea bag wrapper into tiny little pieces, which you then have to pick up late at night by crawling around on your hands and knees, I will not get mad at you for discreetly hiding said scissors and only producing them when I actually need them.

"An Avatar for Best Actress?" by Mark Harris
Essay by Mark Harris featured in this week’s Entertainment Weekly
If you’ve read about Avatar, you know by now that it’s the future of movies. And if you’ve seen it, you know that the future of movies apparently loks a lot like the present of movies—big, expensive, effects-driven action, but updated with high-tech immersiveness. More problematically, though, Avatar...

Overheard in London
A few gems overheard in my travels today:
—Italian woman points to big old building, then turns to small Italian boy and says (in Italian, of course): “Il banco di Gringots. Asi Harry Potter.” Small boy: “GRINGOTS!”
—At the National Portrait Gallery, a ten year old boy is explaining Macbeth to his younger sister: “Naughty Macbeth, he keeps killing...

I just directed an interview with this woman →
It was the most exciting and terrifying seven minutes of my day. Real honor to get to do my small part for the Culture Show, and a pleasure to meet Rosie Boycott, a wicked smart woman who’s lived a fascinating life. I wish I had more than five minutes with her, because I wanted to ask many more questions. Hopefully I’ll be shooting more mini-interviews like this for The Culture...

Wedding Annoucements (For My Roommates)
I love wedding announcements. This is no secret. It’s my Sunday ritual. Many have seen my wall of fame. My friends and roommates are in on this. It’s a great thing.
Every Sunday, I scour the style section in the New York times, preferably with coffee and bagels from Murrays (double points if roommates/co-conspirators join me). It’s my Sunday staple. I’ve really missed it...
